[ABOUT ME]
Cecilia del Castillo is a Mexican type designer and calligrapher whose work is rooted in her interest for craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Inspired by the eclecticism, richness, and contradictions of Mexican culture, she explores the intersections between tradition and contemporary type design.
She holds a Master’s degree from TypeMedia at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK), as well as diplomas with Distinction from TypeParis in France and Tipo G in Barcelona.
Over the past several years she has lived and worked independently in Barcelona, developing typefaces and calligraphic projects that reflect her passion for letterforms.
In 2023 she was named one of the TDC Ascenders by the Type Directors Club in New York, a recognition of her contribution to contemporary type design.
In 2025, together with Felix Bamforth, she co-founded Beam Type, a creative practicespecialized in type design and creative coding.
